Hi there, I’m Norah Estelwyn — a 38-year-old home chef based in Asheville, North Carolina.
My love for cooking didn’t start in a professional kitchen—it began beside my grandmother, in her cozy, sunlit Southern home. She taught me that food is more than fuel; it’s warmth, comfort, and a way to connect with the people we love.

In my twenties, I worked in publishing by day and experimented in the kitchen by night—tweaking family recipes, testing new ingredients, and learning through plenty of trial and error (including some spectacular flops). Over the years, I found myself especially drawn to recipes that nourish the body and soul.
That passion led me to start this blog, originally focused on high-protein desserts—treats that satisfy your sweet tooth and support your health goals. I’ve had so much fun developing recipes like chocolate protein brownies, peanut butter fudge bites, and Greek yogurt cheesecake jars. It’s been incredible to see how much people appreciate desserts that are both indulgent and functional.
But over time, my kitchen has grown beyond just dessert. These days, I also share ideas for protein-rich meals, healthy snacks, and feel-good comfort food—recipes that fit real life, without the guilt or the guesswork.

Whether you’re here for a no-bake treat, a cozy dinner, or a fresh take on healthy eating, I’m so glad you stopped by. My style is approachable, flexible, and always focused on real food that works for you.
Welcome to The Fresh Cooking. There’s always something bubbling on the stove, a story to share, and of course—a high-protein cookie or two waiting for dessert.
